Get that fork away from your computer monitor!!!  I will not be responsible for scratches you inflict on your own screen…and I don’t think you’re gonna be able to just buff those out.

You know when you eat something for the first time and you say….”Why have I been deprived of this my entire life?”  The wife-unit had one of those moments when I put these vegan Irish nachos in front of her.  Sure, she was hesitant at first because your typical vegan nachos use tortilla chips (buh-DOY!), but these ain’t yo’ momma’s nachos…unless yo momma is Irish…then I suppose they could be.  Finding Irish nachos at happy hour is pretty rare.  Finding a bar that serves vegan Irish nachos would be like winning the vegan happy hour lottery! I remember when I first saw fried pickles on the happy hour menu of a Southern food/BBQ themed restaurant.  I immediately thought that it was complete nonsense to fry a pickle.  Pickles after all were refreshing and crunchy, so why would you want to eat them warm and most likely soft from getting fried.  It was kind of like one of those Sunday morning colon cleanse info-mercials was playing in my head only it was about the fried pickles.  Why is this a good idea?  Who would like this?  Are there side effects I should be concerned about??!!  Of course I ordered them to see what they were actually like and I’ve been hooked on them ever since. Tapas are great, aren’t they?  It’s like perpetual happy hour appetizers although you don’t always get the sweet discount prices.  Want to try like 5 different appetizers because you can’t make a decision?  Then a tapas bar is the place for you!  I decided to make some tempeh-bacon wrapped dates after passing by a tapas bar over the weekend.  After a quick glance at the menu outside the restaurant, I realized that I wouldn’t be eating anything that they served, so I skipped around the corner where I could get some sweet potato fries. Jalapeno poppers up in this!!!!  They’re just one of those foods that holds a perfect combination of spicy and smooth all wrapped in a crispy shell.  Kind of like if Enrique Iglesias were rolled in bread crumbs then deep fried.  Wait….wut?  I know my mouth is watering just thinking about it…and hopefully you just became self aware that your mouth is watering too.  They go perfect with a crisp, refreshing beer which is why they are on most happy hour menus of course.  These particular vegan jalapeno poppers would conveniently fit on a vegan happy hour menu…if one existed. Taco Tuesday?  More like Taco Bluesday if you’re a vegan at the local Mexican watering holes.  First of all you miss out on the awesome taco Tuesday deals because there isn’t a veggie option, and second of all you have nothing to counteract the 4 margaritas you pounded down because happy hour prices were only good for another 45 minutes….although that could be a good thing depending on what your goal is for the night.  Typically Mexican restaurants will have a vegetarian fajitas option or a gigantic vegetarian burrito (if you ask them to hold the cheese and sour cream) but those aren’t on the happy hour menu and I want the cute little tacos that easily fit in one hand while the other hand is free to maneuver my margarita glass, dammit!
