I heart buffalo wing sauce! Of course, when I say that I mean minus the part about the chicken wings. None the less, you can put this stuff on just about any fried food and the end result will be de-freakin-licious because buffalo sauce is de-freakin-licious. Buffalo wings are one of the most common happy hour foods that you will find here in the US and so I had to do a vegan take on them. Instead of going the vegan protein route though, I went with something inspired by a local happy hour spot…I used breaded, fried tomato slices.
I hope everybody had a good Memorial Day weekend filled with delicious food and plenty of adult beverages. For those of you who had to work I’m sorry that your lack of planning caused you to miss all the vegan BBQs on Monday…amateurs. For those of you living in countries that don’t observe Memorial Day as a holiday…better luck next year?..or something. At least we all have one thing that can bring us together, and that’s delicious vegan food. The picture above is an example of delicious vegan food, happy hour style.
This may just be the best vegan recipe that I’ve posted to date. Honestly, I’ve never seen this item on any happy hour menu. I’ve never seen it on any menu, period. I’ve never even had it before. I guess I’m just a vegan dude with a dream…and that dream tastes freakin’ good. This was an experimental recipe that has become in instant classic to me. Try this one. No seriously, stop talking about it and just do it already!
I remember when I first saw fried pickles on the happy hour menu of a Southern food/BBQ themed restaurant. I immediately thought that it was complete nonsense to fry a pickle. Pickles after all were refreshing and crunchy, so why would you want to eat them warm and most likely soft from getting fried. It was kind of like one of those Sunday morning colon cleanse info-mercials was playing in my head only it was about the fried pickles. Why is this a good idea? Who would like this? Are there side effects I should be concerned about??!! Of course I ordered them to see what they were actually like and I’ve been hooked on them ever since.
